Language Other Than English (Foreign Languages)

The Language Other Than English (formerly Foreign Language) Department seeks to offer immersive courses in the key languages other than English. Five levels of  Spanish including Advanced Placement are offered to MCAA students, in addition to American Sign Language (ASL) I and II. Beginning in the Fall semester 2023, French I (and eventually French 2) will be offered. ASL and French are offered as concurrent Yuba College classes and thus fulfill the two year requirement for foreign language for college admission. The goal of Spanish and French programs is to increase both written and spoken proficiency of the language, as well as create an understanding of the culture associated with the language.
